PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for supervising clinic staff and scheduling, assessing, screening, counseling, and training WIC applicants and the local community on matters pertaining to nutrition and the WIC Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Determines clinic scheduling and staffing
• Provides training for new staff in assigned area
• Responsible for clinic growth and participation in assigned area
• Provide nutrition counseling and education
• Assess health status for WIC program eligibility
• Perform height, weight, and blood screening procedures
• Provide public awareness activities
• Operate computer when deemed appropriate
• Knowledge of basic nutrition principles
• Knowledge of laboratory screening techniques
• Knowledge of basic computer operations
• Ability to measure height, weight, and hgb/hct value accurately
• Skill and ability to determine program eligibility
• Skill and ability to provide current and correct nutrition information
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, and the general public in person or using telephone
• Ability to determine the proper immunizations to give
• Ability to handle lancets and needles
• Supervise full-time and part-time staff
• Monitors and evaluates clinic operation and job performance of assigned staff
• Resolves client problems or complaints in a positive customer service oriented manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 12 hours of nutrition classes from a college or university or Home Economics Degree. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a clear record
