Summer Food Program Assistant
Department: WIC Gun Barrel City
Salary:
City/State: Gun Barrel City, Texas
Education: High school or equivalent, plus one year experience in general office or heavy public contact position. Spanish speaking preferred.
Type: Part Time/Temporary
Experience: Must have basic computer skills. Has good communication skills both in person and on the phone. Records in a clear, concise, objective manner. Must have the ability to stay organized. Must have ability to prioritize tasks. Must be able to finish tasks without close supervision. Must have the ability to work as a reliable team member. Must be able to make wise use of time in order to best serve participant and clinic needs.

Description
FUNCTION:
To oversee Summer Food Program meals in the WIC office, assist WIC Program professionals by informing people in the community of WIC and Summer Food Program benefits and services, and to provide clerical support as needed.

SCOPE:
Prepares and maintains food logs daily according to Summer Food Program guidelines.
Arranges, prepares for, and facilitates meals and snacks in the WIC office.
Prepares and maintains assigned reports.
Facilitates nutrition education for participants.
Works along with WIC staff to ensure a smooth clinic flow.
Discusses the Summer Food Program and WIC with the public.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes Summer Feeding Program documentation as assigned.
Oversees delivery of meals in the WIC office.
Promptly greets participants in a courteous manner.
Contacts participants to inform them of Summer Food Program.
Helps with clinic flow to ensure participants receive service in a timely fashion.
Facilitates nutrition education according to the approved NE materials for each quarter.

TASK ASSIGNMENTS:
Set up designated area with needed supplies for food distribution.
Check in food deliveries and ensure correct amounts of items were received according to the delivery receipt.
Ensure perishable items are the appropriate temperature upon delivery.
Maintain and submit delivery receipts daily.
Distribute and tally meals served and submit daily.
Ensure safe handling of food items to prevent illness.
Ensure compliance with East Texas Food Bank rules and regulations.
Clean up after meal service.
Other duties as assigned.
Helps with audit preparation as requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
May be exposed to communicable diseases.
Must stay fully immunized according to Net Health standards.
Must have current driver’s license.
