Aquatic Health: Education

Helping pool and spa operators stay informed and certified to ensure safe aquatic environments.

Certified Pool Operator Training and Registration

A CPO certification ensures operators are well-trained in pool maintenance, safety, and regulations.

Recognized Certification Programs:

To become a Certified Pool Operator, complete one of the following approved courses:

  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification - Aquatic Facility Operator Certification (AFO), Aquatics | Certification | National Recreation and Park Association
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification - CPO for Operators - Pool & Hot Tub Alliance

Benefits:

• Exemption from the annual basic training for the 5-year validity of the CPO certificate.

• Free entry into NET Health’s database of certified operators.

The cost will vary depending on the test provider. Ensure the class you select is a recognized course.

Basic Pool Operator Training & Registration


The owner of a public swimming pool or spa is responsible for having a person onsite during all hours of operation, who is either a registered CPO or has a valid annual basic pool operator training provided by or approved by NET Health.

Annual Training Dates:

April 21, 2025

  • Morning Class: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Register Form Here
  • Afternoon Class: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Register Form Here

 May 13, 2025

  • Morning Class: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Register Form Here

This Basic Pool Operator Training offered by NET Health will include an overview of the design and maintenance of public swimming pools and spas, operation requirements for water chemistry and documentation, signage requirements, fencing requirements, safety issues including entrapment hazards and equipment, as well as the state and local regulations for public swimming pools and spas. 

NET Health Basic Pool Operator Training:  Cost is $65.00

A certificate of completion will be issued to the participant upon completion of this training. 

An individual may also receive a certificate by attending a training course approved by the NET Health. Upon presenting the credentials of the course, the individual will then be enrolled into a registry maintained by NET Health.
