National Public Health Week Photo Contest

We are excited to announce the "It Starts Here: Your Health is our Mission” East Texas Public Health Photo Contest, inviting community members to capture the essence of public health in our region. This contest aims to highlight the diverse aspects of health and well-being that shape our communities.

Contest Theme


Participants are encouraged to submit photographs that represent public health in East Texas. This can include images depicting healthy lifestyles, environmental health, healthcare access, community wellness initiatives, and more. 

Eligibility


Entry is free. The contest is open to East Texas residents ages 18 and older. Amateur and professional photographers can enter. The goal is to showcase what public health means to you and how it impacts our community. 

Submission Guidelines

  • Number of Entries: Each participant may submit up to two photographs. 
  • Format: High-resolution digital images in .jpg or .pdf format. 
  • Size: Minimum dimensions of 2400 x 3000 pixels and minimum resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) 
  • Originality: Submissions must be original works taken by the participant with raw, non-filtered photos. 
  • Consent: Photographs featuring identifiable individuals must be accompanied by a signed photo release form. 

Submission Process: Participants should submit their photographs along with a completed photo release form by Sunday March 23rd at 11:59 pm. Entries can be uploaded via email at [email protected]. 

Judging Criteria: A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on creativity, relevance to public health, visual impact, and technical quality. 

Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries: 

  • First Place: $250 gift card
  • Second Place: $150 gift card
  • Third Place: $100 gift card

Exhibition: Winning photographs will be showcased at two local events: 

  • Breathe, Play, Thrive: A Wellness and Community Gathering at True Vine Brewery on April 5th at 3:00 pm
  • The Public Health Week kickoff event at the Tyler Rose Garden on April 7th at 10:00 am

Complete submission by March 23rd, 2025

Winning photographs will also be featured on the NET Health and UT Tyler websites. 

Important Dates: 

  • Submission Deadline: March 23rd at 11:59 pm  
  • Winners to be notified: March 31st 
  • Exhibition Dates: April 5th and 7th
