"It Takes a Village to Raise a Child"

We believe it takes a city. That's why our group includes local medical care professionals, Community Health Workers, local non-profits, and the Texas Department of State Health Services to provide quality resources to women of all seasons of life.

In 2014, March of Dimes met with NET Health to discuss statistics and how we can improve the birthrate and health of moms and babies in East Texas. NET Health received grant funding in 2015 that supports the operation of our coalition. Since then, we have expanded our membership and focus on conducting needs assessments for pre-conception education that will reduce health disparities.

Our focused objectives are designed to increase the local birthrate by improving the health of moms and babies in East Texas. Our four objectives are:

  1. To raise awareness and increase engagement around the risk factors that negatively impact pregnancies and the protective factors that support healthy pregnancies across East Texas.
  2. To collaborate with coalition members and prioritize care for pregnant and postpartum women.
  3. To address system policies that have been identified as impediments to maternal and infant health.
  4. To improve women’s mental health and wellness in East Texas.

The Healthy Me Healthy Babies Coalition includes membership from CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital, the March of Dimes Foundation, Tyler Family Circle of Care, Tyler City Council, Smith County Medical Society, Tyler Junior College, the University of Texas at Tyler, NET Health, and individual members of the East Texas community.

If there’s a baby in your future, even if it’s months or years from now, today matters. Learn more about partnering with us and making East Texas a safe and healthy place for moms and babies in our community, click below.
