Sanitation Concerns

  • Overflowing Trash: Accumulation of waste that is not properly disposed of, leading to unpleasant odors, attraction of pests, and potential health hazards.

  • Improper Sewage Disposal: The release or leakage of untreated or inadequately treated sewage, which can contaminate land and water sources, posing a serious risk to public health.

  • Polluted Water Sources: Contamination of natural water systems, such as rivers, lakes, or groundwater, with harmful substances, making them unsafe for human use or consumption.

Nuisance

  • Standing Water (potential mosquito breeding sites): Pools of stagnant water that provide ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which can spread diseases like West Nile virus or dengue.

  • Vermin: Presence of pests like rats, mice, or other wildlife that can transmit diseases, contaminate food, and damage property.

  • Excessive Noise affecting Community Health: High levels of noise from sources such as construction, traffic, or industrial operations that can lead to stress, hearing damage, and reduced quality of life.

  • Improper Animal Waste Disposal: Failure to properly dispose of animal feces, which can contaminate soil and water, attract pests, and spread diseases to humans and other animals.

FAQ's

A public health nuisance includes overflowing trash, improper sewage disposal, polluted water sources, standing water (potential mosquito breeding sites), vermin infestations, excessive noise that affects health, and improper animal waste disposal. These conditions can pose risks to community health and safety.

You can report a public health nuisance by contacting our office directly by phone, email, or through our online reporting form. Be prepared to provide a detailed description of the issue and its location.

Yes, you can remain anonymous when filing a complaint. However, providing your contact information can help our team follow up with you if additional details are needed to resolve the issue.

You can report standing water to our office for investigation. We recommend eliminating any standing water on your property, such as in buckets, tires, or birdbaths, to reduce mosquito breeding risks.

The City of Tyler typically handles Vector Control for mosquitos. More information can be found here.

Our team investigates complaints of vermin infestations and provides property owners with guidance to address the problem. If the infestation poses a public health risk, we may issue orders requiring action to remove the hazard.

Improper animal waste disposal can attract pests and contaminate water sources. Report the issue to our office with the location and details, and we will take appropriate action to address it.

Excessive noise can impact mental and physical health, especially if it is persistent and disruptive. Our department investigates noise complaints that may pose a risk to community well-being. Local noise ordinances may also apply.

You can help by maintaining your property, properly disposing of waste, eliminating standing water, keeping areas pest-free, and reporting public health hazards. Community effort is key to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all.
