Texas WIC Introduces a New WIC Card Beginning July 1

July 01, 2026

Beginning July 1, 2026, Texas WIC participants will begin using a new Texas WIC Card designed to make grocery shopping easier and benefit management more convenient. While the appearance and technology behind the card have changed, the nutritious foods and services offered through the Texas WIC Program remain the same.

The updated card introduces several new features that improve the overall participant experience. Families will notice faster updates to their available benefits after each purchase, improved integration with the free myWIC mobile app, and enhanced tools for managing their WIC account.

Before using the new card for the first time, participants should create a secure four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This can be completed through the myWIC app by selecting Card Management and Manage PIN, or by calling the Texas WIC Card Management Line at 833-966-1382. Participants are encouraged to choose a PIN that is easy to remember while avoiding common combinations such as birthdays or repeating numbers.

The myWIC app continues to be one of the most valuable resources available to WIC participants. Through the app, families can view their current food benefits, track remaining balances after shopping, scan products to verify WIC eligibility, access the Texas WIC Shopping Guide, receive appointment reminders, and manage their WIC card if it is lost or stolen.

Shopping with the new card remains simple. Participants shop for their approved WIC foods, swipe their Texas WIC Card at checkout, enter their PIN, and keep their receipt to review any remaining monthly benefits. As always, unused WIC benefits expire at the end of each benefit month and do not roll over.

The transition to the new Texas WIC Card reflects Texas WIC’s ongoing commitment to making healthy foods more accessible while providing families with modern tools that simplify everyday shopping.

If you have questions about your new Texas WIC Card or need assistance with your benefits, your local NET Health WIC clinic is ready to help.
